	The challenge to the speaker is to present well-developed material which has the primary intent of informing, although persuasive elements may be present. The speech is to be coherent, unified, and clear. A range of support materials and devices are to be used which can include quotations, statistics, examples, comparisons, and analogies. Rules: 1) The speech must be original with the participant. 2) Auxiliary visual materials are not permitted. 3) Maximum time limit is 4 minuets. A 30 second grace period is allowed. 4) The use of one 4 x 6 note card is optional. 5) The use of a speaker's stand is optional Need some tips?
